Gasly would start his racing career at the age of ten, entering several karting championships, culminating in a campaign in the CIK-FIA European Championship in 2010. After finishing runner up in the CIK series, Gasly was offered a drive in the French F4 Championship. His first season in single seater racing cars would go well, with Gasly challenging for the French F4 title throughout 2011.
A Red Bull FutureEdit
Gasly was promoted to the Formula Renault Eurocup in 2012, taking several podium finishes. His second season saw the Frenchman win the series will three wins to his name, earning a drive in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series for 2014. His prize would also include an invitation to join the Red Bull Junior Team, a programme by Red Bull Racing to develop young talent.
Gasly was fast tracked to the GP2 Series during 2014, despite missing out on the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title. Having made a couple of GP2 appereances in 2014, Gasly was offered a full-time seat at Dams for 2015, partnering Alex Lynn. Inconsistency throughout the season meant Gasly finished the season below Lynn, although he was called up to be the Red Bull Racing reserve driver mid-way through the season.
2016 would prove to be the best season of Gasly's junior career, the Frenchman sweeping to the title with four wins after a change of teams. His success made him the prime candidate to take over a seat at either Red Bull Racing or Scuderia Toro Rosso in Formula One, although there were no seats available at the start of 2017. Gasly would therefore opt to campaign in the Japanese Super Formula Championship, while remaining a test driver for Red Bull in F1.
Formula E HistoryEdit
Gasly would be drafted into the Renault e.Dams team as a stand-in for Sébastien Buemi, who was to miss the two New York ePrix due to his World Endurance Championship commitments. Gasly duly linked up with the team in New York, driving the #9 pair of cars for the first time during the shakedown session in the buildup to the weekend.
In spite of his inexperience however, Gasly would produce a refined debut display, beating teammate Nicolas Prost in both races. Indeed, Gasly was on target for a podium spot in the second New York ePrix, but a tap on the wall on the final lap while fighting left him to limp across the line in fourth.
