Ben Hanley (born 22nd January 1985) is a British racing driver, set to make his début at the 2016 Berlin ePrix for NEXTEV TCR.[1] A former member of the Renault F1 Young Driver ProgrammeHanley joins the 2015/16 FIA Formula E Championship in place of fellow Brit Oliver Turvey.[1]

After a spectacular start to his racing career in karting, Hanley got his first taste of racing cars in the Formula Renault 2.0 Italia in 2005, claiming third in the Championship in his début season and earning himself a place on the Renault F1 Young Driver Programme and a couple of drives in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.[2] Two full seasons in Formula Renault followed, with Hanley claiming second overall in the 2007 edition of the Championship, before a partial graduation to the GP2 Series.[2] However, Hanley could only make occasional appearances having lost his Renault backing, and so returned to karting at the end of the 2009 season.[2]

In the early months of 2016, Hanley finally secured a return to international motorsport, as he signed up to drive in the European Le Mans Series.[3]

Formula E HistoryEdit

Hanley was offered a chance to drive with the NEXTEV TCR outfit in mid-March 2016, after the release of the Super GT Championship calendar revealed that Oliver Turvey would miss the 2016 Berlin ePrix.[1]
